Jaxon Henricks showed a strong eye at the plate on Tuesday, as Henricks walked three times while leading Hornets to a 14-2 victory over Payson.
Hornets got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Payson committed an error, Henry Ingram walked, and Royal Wolfe grounded out, each scoring one run.
Hornets extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Michael Kassing, Bradley Markert, and Ingram.
Hornets added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when an error scored one run, and Kassing doubled, scoring two runs.
Hornets scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the fourth inning. Nolan Sefton drew a walk, scoring one run, Henricks drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ayden Wagner tripled, scoring three runs.
Wolfe earned the win for Hornets. The left-handed pitcher allowed one hit and two runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking three. Ingram collected the save.
Kassing went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Hornets in hits. Wagner went 1-for-4 at the plate as the center fielder led the team with three runs batted in. Henricks led Hornets with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game. Henricks and Liam Flesner each stole multiple bases for Hornets. Hornets ran wild on the base paths, tallying six stolen bases for the game.
